Why it matters

At Apex Health, sustainability is not a regulatory obligation.

It is a strategic driver of growth, resilience, and trust. We are embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles across every hospital and business activity, creating long-term value for our patients, our people, and the communities we serve, while contributing to a more sustainable future for the region.

Our framework is aligned with the Qatar Stock Exchange ESG Guidance, Qatar National Vision 2030, and global standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the UN Global Compact principles.

Why sustainability matters in healthcare

Sustainable healthcare delivers better outcomes on every front:

Better patient care

Cleaner, safer, and more inclusive facilities lead to stronger clinical outcomes.

Trust and reputation

Responsible operations earn the confidence of patients, communities, and stakeholders.

Reducing waste and improving energy use lowers operating costs over time.

Stronger workforce

A focus on wellbeing, safety, and ethics improves morale and retention.

Long-term resilience

ESG prepares us to adapt to evolving regulations, markets, and expectations

Our Framework

Four pillars of sustainability

Apex Health’s ESG Strategy 2030–2025 is built on four pillars, each aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, with clear goals, actions, and KPIs.

Environmental Protection

Energy efficiency, carbon reduction, waste management, water conservation, sustainable procurement

02

Positive Social Impact

Diversity and inclusion, employee wellbeing, workplace safety, community engagement

03

Governance & Risk Management

Transparency, ethical conduct, compliance, cybersecurity, data protection

04

Responsible Business

Sustainable operations integrated across every facility and supply chain

We are reducing our environmental footprint across our network through targeted initiatives:

  • Energy and carbon

Solar power, LED lighting, energy-efficient HVAC systems, and emissions-reduction programmes across our facilities.

  • Waste and recycling

Medical waste recycling strategies, single-use plastic reduction, organic waste composting, and resource reduction programmes.

  • Water conservation

Water-saving measures in hospital operations and reverse-osmosis water reuse.

  • Sustainable procurement

Responsible sourcing policies for medical supplies and utilities.

Initiatives are piloted in selected hospitals and refined with ESG experts before full network rollout.

Our commitment is validated by leading international standards:

  • Joint Commission International (JCI):

Achieved by The View Hospital (May 2025) and Military Medical City Hospital (December 2025).

  • GSAS Green Building Certification:

The View Hospital is GSAS Design & Build 3-Star Certified; the Korean Medical Center is GSAS Design 2-Star Certified.

  • Future projects:

All new developments, including the Algerian Qatari German Hospital (HAQA) and Baghdad International Hospital, will integrate LEED-aligned sustainability requirements from design through construction.

Our ESG Committee, chaired at executive level and supported by ESG Champions in every business unit, ensures cross-departmental collaboration, leadership accountability, and structured execution across the network.

Our people and our communities are at the centre of our sustainability commitment:

  • Diversity, equality, and inclusion

A DEI policy supporting inclusive hiring and leadership diversity.

  • Employee wellbeing and safety

Wellbeing assessments, mental health support, and workplace safety programmes, alongside staff engagement initiatives such as yoga sessions and language classes.

  • Community engagement

Free health screenings, beach clean-ups, population health outreach, and public awareness campaigns including World No Tobacco Day and summer health drives.

Strong governance underpins everything we do:

  • Transparency

An established ESG governance framework aligned with global reporting standards.

  • Ethical conduct

Anti-corruption and ethics policies, a whistleblower mechanism, and ethical decision-making training.

  • Data protection

Cybersecurity risk management and awareness training across the organisation.

Our ESG Committee, chaired at executive level and supported by ESG Champions in every business unit, ensures cross-departmental collaboration, leadership accountability, and structured execution across the network.

Measuring our progress

Accountability is built into our framework. Each business unit tracks its own ESG performance through a centralised data dashboard, with quarterly reports to leadership and an annual ESG impact report. This data-driven approach ensures measurable, transparent progress against our targets.
